SET YOUR FOOD ALARMS

Everyone is talking about what to eat and why. More importantly we all need to discuss the timings of our various meals of the day.

  • Most people don't fix their meal times. The reason being their casual lifestyle. Choosing to stick to fixed eating timings, is not difficult. Lethargy and being engrossed in other activities can be common excuses.
  • Fasting, that happens without proper planning can pose more dangers to the body, rather than any positive effects. After long fasting people tend to indulge in excessive eating which causes sudden rise in blood sugar levels.
  • It is extremely important to be aware of the value of eating proper meals at the proper timings and proper gaps.
  • A breakfast should be an early meal because the prior meal had a big gap and also because it becomes an energy booster for the rest of the day.
  • The time given to our digestive system to do its job properly is noteworthy. For this reason, dinner time too is very important. If we eat late, then the food remains undigested and leads to a number of ailments including increase in body weight. Close to bed time at night, the processing of food slows down. That is the reason, the doctors advise to keep a long gap between your bedtime and the last meal of the day.

  • The day time is full of activities and more utilization of energy takes place.
  • Eating food at right time helps in proper digestion of food. The process of waste removal is also very crucial and needs to be completed regularly.
  • Researchers generally advice a gap of 5 hr 30 min in between meals. If the digestive system is working fine, then it normally takes 3 to 4 hours to completely digest the food that was eaten. If for some reason the food intake is delayed beyond this duration, then it can result in acidity.
  • Therefore, ideally, if breakfast is at 7 am, then lunch can be at 12.30pm, and dinner at 6 pm.
