When a child comes into my office with severe allergic asthma, I realize that he has a significantly depleted immune and antioxidant defense system. When he visits me, he’s been fighting chronic inflammation in his nasal passageways and lungs. The result is that they are allergic to just about everything. They have dark circles under their eyes, are fatigued, and take a lot of medication.
I start them on potent antioxidants and minerals extracted from plants and add essential fatty acids to cold-pressed flaxseed oil or sometimes deep ocean cold-water fish omega. These nutrients are necessary for the body’s production of natural anti-inflammatory products, which helps to bring inflammation back under control.
The grape seed extract is an excellent antioxidant with anti-allergens benefits also. The grape seed extract is a good supplement for a child with asthma. I generally recommend that parents give their child 1-2mg of grape seed extract per kg of their weight. I also provide these children with additional calcium & magnesium extracts (Extracted from plants). Magnesium helps open the narrow airways by relaxing the bronchospasms. These spasms are responsible for the narrowing of the airways.
I always tell parents that it takes about six months to build up a child’s antioxidant and immune systems, so they shouldn’t get too anxious. All of my child patients with asthma have improved using this nutritional therapy. Some are dramatic improvements like Amar’s, and some reflect just modest improvement, but they all get good results. Please note here that I have never had asthmatic children discontinue their medication because nutritional therapy is not alternate medicine. They are complementary medicine.
I have enjoyed working with children with severe allergies because they respond so well to nutritional therapy. Adult asthmatics can also benefit once their bodies begin rebuilding their defenses.
Our children and many adults are literally under attack from our environment. It is wearing them down, and they need the support of nutritional extracts as medicines do not hold all the answers, and when people are at the end of their rope, they begin to look for other options. But remember, I am suggesting alternative medicine; I strongly recommend complementary therapy that makes your body heal itself.
The question is, why am I alone in this? Why are physicians so reluctant to recommend that their patients undergo complementary therapy and medication together? It’s a mystery to me.
