The natural medicine provided by nature is fruits. People don't generally know correct and incorrect ways to consume fruits. How you eat fruits is how it gets digested, absorbed, and utilized by the body. Food combination plays a vital role in your life and day-to-day activities. Hence, in nutritional sciences, the combination of food is given much importance. Some food combinations have a combined effect. Some combinations can have a hostile effect. You can call these combinations compatible or incompatible, "samanataaahar" or "Virudaahar". So always be careful about these combinations to get the best from fruits. Some virodhabhasi foods are Milk with banana, fish, melons, curd, sour fruits, kitchari, bread containing yeast, cherries, onion, sugar, etc. Another example is melons are incompatible with grains, starch, fried foods, cheese. There are many examples of virodhabhasi foods, which I will write another time.
There is an abundance of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants in fruits. These assist our body in several biochemical reactions. They help build and increase immunity, and they interfere with the way the nutrients are absorbed. Antioxidants mean that they protect us from oxidative stress and protect our bodies from harmful compounds. They tightly bind the toxic compounds and prevent their absorption. The tannins easily bind with minerals such as Iron, Zinc & Calcium. This results in the lowering of immunity even if you are eating various fruits & vegetables.
Eating fruits and cooked food together will lead to indigestion, bloating, burping, flatulence, and constipation because fruits are easier to digest. Thus, combining them with cooked food that takes more time to digest leads to sugar fermentation in the stomach. Give a spacing of at least 45 minutes to an hour between their consumption. Also, both foods need different enzymes to get digested in the stomach, leading to the overloading of digestive enzymes.
Eat the dry fruits and fresh fruits separately as eating both will overload the liver to process the excessive fructose, as dry fruits have a concentrated form of fructose as they are dehydrated. So, proper spacing must be kept in consuming dry fruits like dates, dried apricots and prunes, and fresh fruits. Dry fruits give you instant energy because of the concentrated fructose in them.
There are many types of superfoods available in nature. Fruits are also superfoods, so vegetables like dark green leafy vegetables like spinach, lettuce, collard greens, turnip greens, swiss chard, kale, and food like moringa, wheatgrass, barley grass, and other edible grasses are also superfoods. Combining them interferes with the absorption of essential nutrients. So prefer to eat one superfood at a time.
