Liver: How useful?

You can't do with a mal functioning liver. It is a sensitive organ that gets affected even by minute level of stress or ups and downs in emotions. Most common function that even a layman understands is that, a liver neutralizes the body toxins. It is the organ that produces bile juice. During the process of digestion, the bile breaks down fats in the small intestines.

It produces cholesterol and a special protein that carries fats through the body. It stores the glucose and releases it when it is required by the body.

Liver is also an organ that stores iron. For this reason it processes the haemoglobin and also helps in clearing the blood from the drugs and other harmful substances. This wonder organ is also found to produce few types of useful proteins that are present in the blood.

Liver plays a big role in protecting the body from bacteria that are present in the blood stream. Certain immune factors are also produced by the liver that helps in resisting the infections in the body.

Important functions like regulation of blood clotting and clearing of bilirubin from the eyes and skin are managed well by the liver. If the bilirubin levels remain high, then the eyes and skin turn yellow.

Liver functions hold a great importance in the overall health of the body .If the liver works fine, the person feels more energetic and also shows slow process of aging. Good health of the liver is associated with less aches and pains in the body. The skin also appears healthier and glowing. With a healthy liver, the digestive system and the respiratory system, both remain up to the mark.

So, please take care of your liver.
