Diabetes, the disease:

Even the tiniest body cells can show their resistance to response against the hormone called insulin. What is it in our cells and tissues that makes the sugar breakdown process of insulin ineffective? The culprit is the high fat content in our tissues. Another cause is the inactivity of the body and most commonly, lack of nutrients which is required for the proper functioning of pancreas, making of the hormone insulin and its utilisation. Most people say it is hereditary but still it can be avoided by proper intake of nutrients, specially phyto-nutrients and active lifestyle.

When diabetes shows up:

Diabetes can show up its symptoms in anybody irrespective of age and gender. It affects the daily routine of those suffering. Frequent urination, fatigue and excessive thirst are the primary symptoms that should not be ignored. When young children show symptoms, they mostly go unnoticed. Any initial symptoms, if ignored, can lead to severe conditions.

How to manage?

Management of food:

Prevention is better than cure, therefore cutting on fats, refined sugars, carbohydrates, juices and juicy fruits, artificial sugars, processed foods and fries is very important. Adding more water and roughage to the daily diet helps a lot. Eating only in small portions is definitely important for good health. Intake of 7 colours of fruits and vegetables are also necessary.

Management of Mind:

To avoid any kind of undesirable mental stress and confusion, there is a need to manage daily activities in a systematic and planned way. Proper management of time can give space for efficient working. Meditation and proper sleep patterns are essential ingredients of healthy living. A bit of ease and simplicity in food and work can do wonders.

Management of physical body:

Regular exercise has a lot of health benefits. It improves the condition of the heart muscles, enhances sufficient oxygen intake by the lungs. Exercises that promote flexibility, body balance and stretching should be regularly practiced apart from going for walks for at least 45 minutes daily or do yoga.
